Simplifying complexity in dental implant planning

Context
DTX Studio Clinic is part of Nobel Biocare’s ecosystem of digital solutions, designed to support the full dental workflow. From diagnostics to treatment and follow-up. The ambition is clear: better patient care through better tools. But implant planning is complex, and complexity slows people down. Especially in environments where precision and time both matter.
Design
The focus was on simplifying implant planning. Making a complex workflow feel intuitive and efficient. Working closely with dentists throughout the project, we redesigned the process of creating and exporting surgical templates.
Usability testing before and after each iteration helped uncover friction, validate decisions, and continuously refine the experience. The result was a more fluid workflow, where actions feel immediate and predictable.
Dentists can create, modify, and inspect surgical templates in a full 3D environment, adjusting parameters and adding inspection windows with minimal effort.
Results
A real-time planning experience that brings clarity to a highly complex process. Faster workflows with more control. And a system that responds instantly to user input, making planning smoother and more precise.
Because when complexity is handled well, dentists can focus on what matters most, patient care.
